The adventure of the spaceship called iss enterpriseb.

The adventure of the spaceship called iss enterprise……….

Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away there was a man captain Kurk who was an explorer. He went to space with his crew on the space ship called iss enterprise.

When he got to space captain Kurk was spinning on his shamazing chair with his cool eyes closed.

1 minute later he heard a rumbling noise and then BANG he fell face first into the hardest floor you can ever imagine. Captain Kurk’s crew chief Checkof yelled “ captain our engines and power are down we cant breath without the power.

Later on Kurks crew were dying and he almost died because you cant breath in space without power. So Kurk went to the power and engines room and repaired the power and the engines but they still had to land the ship. Whew. They landed the ship!!!!!!!!!!!

He’s a hero because he landed the ship, saved the day and most of all he saved his crew.

Our Ending Journey with Mrs Rolton

Mrs Rolton leaving.

Over 2 years our journey with Mrs Rolton was amazing when ever we were performing on a stage Mrs Rolton is always there right by our sides and she is so shamazing. Mrs Rolton always encourages us to do the right thing but sadly our journey with her has ended.

We've made heaps of mistakes but when Mrs Rolton is there she helps us solve the problem and she makes us feel like we're reaching for the stars every time.

Do you know what it like to be a student of your favorite teacher that is leaving.Even before the end of the year.

There will never be a better teacher than Mrs Rolton.Memories will always be kept.

Daily Reflections

How important is it to ask a reflective question?

Ask a classmate how his or her day was?

What did you do well today?

How were you helpful today?

What did you learn today?

What would you like to do better tomorrow?

What was your favourite part of the day?

What have I done well today?

How have I helped someone’s learning today?

What have we learned today?

Going to A Party by Aaliyah Davidson

Going to a Party

On Sunday we went to a birthday party the person was turning 15 years old.  When they were asleep at 10 o’clock we went to Queens Park.  We saw some pigs, red ear turtles and a dear.  There were two female dear and one male dear.  The antlers on the male dear were big and they looked like wood from a tree.

After looking at the dear we went to the bird aviary and we went to look at the cockatoo.  He says exactly what you say.  We said,
“Hello pretty boy” and he copied us.  When we walked away he said,
“Where are you going to?” and I replied
“We are going to look at some more birds.”
We went into a big place and there were green, red and orange birds.

Then we went home and when we arrived we had our lunch.  My lunch was 3 mousetraps and I shared a big packet of noodles with Jack and it was YUM!  It was a fun day because we got to see lots of different animals.  I really want to go back sometime soon to see the red ear turtles.

Samoan Sasa

We have begun to learn more about the cultures that Colour Our World.

Today we had Eddie who is a visitor to our class.  He is teaching Michael the drum beat, Lane, Henare and Simba 3 of the sasa actions.  We were all impressed with what they learnt in the first hour of being introduced to the sasa.

Michael felt excited because he hadn't learnt how to drum the sasa beat before.

Lane found it hard to learn the actions but with practice he eventually got it right.

Henare felt amazed because he learnt more about the Samoan Culture.

Simba said "It felt awesome to drum and do the actions."

Room12 Speeches

Custom Glitter Text
On Monday the 10th of June 2013 Room12 completed speeches with the whole class, we had to stand in front of the video camera so the teacher could video it.

When everyone shared there speech five people got chosen to do it again so the people that got chosen were Sapphire, Michael, Lane, Ella and Gabrielle and we all had to choose a star that had numbers on them.

The first person who went was me  and I sang a song so did Michael then the rest of the people went next but it went Lane second, Ella third, Michael fourth and Gabrielle last we all had different times from the start.

When I did my speech I was nervous and I was shivering because it was hard doing it in front of people but I still did it and the other people would have been nervous too.

When we completed them I really wanted it over and done with!

Nutritionist Visit

Learning About Nutrition

On Tuesday Room 12 went to New World to look at Nutrition tables and check out the nutrition guidelines to see how healthy they really are with Marewa the Nutritionist.

First we all walked over to the Interview room in the Office and it was as clean as a whistle inside the interview room and then the first group Tahi went and the rest of us played I spy.

Next Mrs Dallas came back to pick my group up Toru and another group Rima. When we got to the supermarket we were each given a sheet to record our findings on.

Then my group split into two groups. It was the Boys in one group; Henare, Mason and I and a Girl group; Ella and Iliili.  My group started with Snacks and we chose Whole Grain Crackers for our Healthy Snack and Round Wine Biscuits for our Occasional Snack.

Next we found the nutritional information for Bread, Milk and Dairy Products, Drinks and Breakfast Cereals.

Finally we were all finished and my group was finished first. Once we were all sitting on the Window Sill we each got given a green Lunch Box with fruit on the top sticker and our own class also got a $60 coupon for a healthy lunch.

It was really fun going through the supermarket and learning about nutrition, nutrition tables and guidelines.  Most of all I hope I get to learn more about nutrition, because I enjoy it.

On Monday we learnt about the food pyramid in class

Our trip to the super duper market “Fruits, veges, snacks, that is all I saw”!

Yesterday Rockin Room 12 went to the supermarket with a nice lady called Marewa she was teaching us about what and what not to eat.  So we had a trip to the supermarket.  No we were not walking in the rain, we were in groups going in Mrs McCambridge’s van.

So what we had to do was all on a sheet that told us about different types of food we were to look at while we were at the supermarket.  I was working with Iliili.  All we could hear was talk, talk, talk from the customers.

Iliili and I started with the snack foods.  We looked at the snacks and chose Muffin Bake Bars.  We had to look for 5 things on the box; energy, fat, sugar, dietary fiber and sodium.  And so we did the same with other snacks, bread, cereals, milk, diary products and drinks.

Do you know that water has nothing but sodium?  Once we had finally finished I said, “come on let’s go to the others”.  When we got to the others they were all holding lunch boxes, “come on and get a lunch box,” explained Marewa.

We were so lucky because she gave us a $60 gift card so we could have a very healthy lunch one day soon.

Why Do Houses Have Windows?

Brr shut the window ! I am cold . Houses have  windows because other wise you will freeze  and get hypothermia.

We also have windows to keep our pets in and predators out.

It is great to look out the window at the view otherwise we would be looking at a blank wall.  That would be boring!

My Tidy Desk

Time to learn.   I am ready to go, and do my writing.  I have a sharp pencil and it is too sharp to touch.  I sharpen it when it is blunt.

I try to keep my desk clean so that when I go into my desk I can find what
I need.  When I have a good day my desk is clean.

It is fun to learn and I love it.

How do You Tell the Time?

When you want to tell the time you can tell its morning, play time, afternoon or  mid-night by looking at the sky outside to see if the sun is shining inside your house.

The morning is am and the afternoon is pm.

How can you tell the time?   Look at the sunshine outside, check your clock, computer, laptop, watch, cellphone or the alarm clock in your room.

Estuary Map

The day was here and the amazing Spring arrived to school and she brought a big map.

She choose some people to go to room 10 to do some art and other stuff, and she also reminded us about the Estuary trip.

As I was saying Spring gave us our paper hands and we cut them out and traced around our hands onto the map.

After that we painted our hands and made it colourful and then we put our names and the date on. When we were finished we had to go back to class.

Librarians Day 2013

Booked in for Training

Libraries open books to potential staff

Kathryn and Shakira attended Librarians Day, read the article that follows and find out what an exciting day they had.
Budding young librarians were treated to top tips during a student librarian training day yesterday.
Invercargill City Libraries manager of customer experience Cynthia Smith said 60 pupils, some from as far away as Balfour, attended the training day held at Invercargill Library.
Organised by the Southland Literacy Association, the day was an opportunity for pupils who volunteered as librarians in their schools to learn more about their craft, she said.
During the day, children spent time comparing Tisbury School library, which was small, with James Hargest junior campus library, which was very large, to learn how to work with different spaces.
The training also covered techniques for reading books to children, how to make displays to attract readers and information about the Dewey decimal system, Ms Smith said.
Tokanui School pupil Emma Smith, 10, attended the course yesterday and said she learned a lot, especially about making cool book displays.
She had really enjoyed her day, she said. "I liked going to other schools and looking at their libraries."
The librarian training day was likely to be held every two years, Ms Smith said.
